trew.timeledger user guide
A plain-English guide for using the app as an invoice-readiness workspace: log work, capture costs, review what is billable, prepare invoices and export clean records for accounting handoff.
Getting started workflow
Start by securing your account, then use this route to work through the app end to end.
What the app is for
trew.timeledger helps small service businesses keep work, expenses and fixed-price invoice stages visible until they are invoiced, written off or exported for accounting review.
It is designed for invoice readiness: knowing what can be billed, what is blocked, and what needs checking before records are handed to accounts.
What the app is not
It is not accounting software.
It does not replace VAT returns, bank reconciliation, statutory accounts, payment matching or accountant review.
Use exports as accounting handoff records, not as a substitute for bookkeeping sign-off.
Daily workflow
Open the Dashboard to check invoice readiness and blockers.
Use Log Time to record daily work by client and project.
Add expenses/disbursements only when relevant, rather than filling unnecessary fields every time.
Review Invoices before creating a draft or issuable invoice record.
Export records from Settings/Exports for review, backup or accounting handoff.
Clients
Client name is the working name used inside the app.
Invoice name and invoice address should be completed before billing.
Missing invoice details will block clean invoice readiness and should be corrected before issuing externally.
Projects
Hourly projects use the project/client hourly rate.
Day-rate projects use full or half day records.
Fixed-price projects use logged time for budget control, with invoice stages for deposit, milestone and final balance billing.
Non-billable projects record activity without creating invoice value.
Log Time
Manual entry is for entering known time directly.
Clock timer is for live work recording.
Interruption timer is for a separate client/project that interrupts the main work.
Use Add expense/disbursement only when there is a cost to record against the work entry.
Expenses and disbursements
Project rechargeable costs may be added to invoice drafts where they are billable.
Company expenses are recorded for accounting handoff but are not automatically client charges.
Attach receipts or supplier invoices where possible and check VAT/tax treatment before external issue.
Invoices
Invoices can be created from logged time, fixed-price invoice stages and selected rechargeable expenses.
Review client details, supplier/business details, VAT/tax treatment, expense inclusion and invoice wording before issuing externally.
The invoice preview and detail pack are intended to support review, PDF/print and audit trail.
Account security
Change any temporary password from Security settings after your first sign-in. The change requires your current password.
The app automatically logs an authenticated user out after 30 minutes without activity and warns shortly before the session expires.
Always use LOG OUT when you have finished, especially on a shared computer. Closing a tab alone should not be treated as the only security control.
Backups and exports
Create a backup before major changes, restores, imports or version upgrades.
Use CSV/XLS exports for admin review and accounting handoff.
The transferable workspace backup is for moving workspace data into a new tester deployment or future version.
